for variety of medical reasons and by others, simply because it
makes them feel great.....And it is now commonplace to find
Licensed Massage Therapists working with Chiropractic Physicians
and receiving referrals from Medical Doctors. Truly the ancient
art of Massage Therapy has been rediscovered by our modern
world...
Our state has been at the forefront of the massage revolution
and thus many people throughout the country seek out Florida
schools for their Massage Therapy training. In fact, to date we
have trained students from 41 states and 5 foreign
countries.
Students have the option of completing one of two Massage Therapy Training Programs which have been approved by the Florida Department of Health. Florida Academy of Massage and Skin Care is Licensed by the Florida Department of Education where you can be licensed as a Massage Therapist in as little as 18 weeks. We offer both day and evening classes, which meet Monday through Friday as well as offer part time programs. Classes begin every 8-10 weeks!
State Licensure - Florida
To practice massage therapy in the State of Florida, a practitioner
must be licensed by the Board of Massage Therapy, a division of the
Florida Department of Health.
In order for a candidate to sit for the Florida State Board
Examination, the following requirements must be met:
1. The successful completion of a minimum five hundred (500) hour
program of study at a Board approved massage therapy school.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age
3. Must submit an application to sit the Board.
National Certification
Upon passing the Florida State Board Examination, one automatically
receives National Certification by the Certification Board for
Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. This certification is accepted by
a growing number of states as criteria for licensure.
